For the pas month every time I yawn the middle of my throat hurts like somthing is banging against it. It doesnt hurt when I swallow but only when I yawn. Can someone tell me whats wrong?Causes of Sore Throat After Surgery. Question: I just had surgery and my throat hurts, should I be concerned? Answer: Your throat probably hurts after surgery for one of two reasons. First, you may be dehydrated. The process of having the breathing tube inserted can be irritating to the throat, and having the tube remain in place can cause further irritation in the mouth and throat. After the tube is removed, patients often find that their mouth, throat and airway are irritated and may experience burning and other symptoms. What do I do about my sore throat? Normal sore throat care including minimal speaking, drinking lots of fluids and over- the- counter remedies should do the trick within a few days. Numbing lozenges are particularly effective for this type of irritation, as the medication coats and protects the throat while numbing the area. Sucking on candy, particularly citrus flavors like lemon, can help keep the area more lubricated to decrease pain. If your sore throat persists more than a week, consider consulting your surgeon or another doctor. Permanent throat or vocal cord injury is rare, but it is one of the risks of anesthesia. If you’re recording multiple characters you should always do the easiest voices first and the hardest voices last, otherwise you’ll wear yourself our even faster. Always have a bottle of water on hand if you’re doing lines that will take longer than 2. Never eat or drink anything with dairy or carbonation in it before you record, that stuff messes up your sound quality and your throat really badly. Tea with honey in it really helps too, and I like Throat Coat a lot, though that stuff doesn’t heal a stressed throat, it just makes it feel better. If you’re just doing amateur work it’s pretty rare you’ll record for more than an hour at a time, so you should just work at a pace that works for you, as long as you record everything in a timely fashion. If you’re doing professional work they usually rent out recording spaces in 4- hour blocks (not that you always go that long). Most places that aren’t crazy allow for water breaks. Water hurts my throat. I have no idea why it would make your throat sore. Be sure to use these well. Don’t do more takes than you need to. I have a bad habit of doing upwards of six takes for a line, even when I’m directing myself. That’s just unecessary stress on the throat. Try and keep your takes around 2- 5 in number. Hopefully that helps! Feel free to message back if you have any other questions.
